Welcome bonus: what it changes about your first payout
A welcome bonus is an offer on the first deposit into a new account — most often a percentage match, sometimes with free spins. The catch is not the bonus itself but timing: in a new account the first withdrawal is already the slowest, because it needs verification, and the bonus adds another condition — wagering. For the current offer at Fenikss or any other operator, read its terms; here is how the mechanism works.
How it usually works
Deposit
You make your first deposit and opt into the bonus in the cashier, by tick-box or code.
Two balances
Bonus funds appear separately from your real money.
Conditions start
Wagering, expiry and maximum bet come into force.
Conversion
Once wagering is complete, bonus funds turn into real money you can withdraw.
Five questions before you tick the box
- Is wagering on the bonus only, or on bonus plus deposit? In the second case your own money is tied up too.
- Which games count, and at what rate? Slots and table games often count differently.
- What is the maximum bet while the bonus is active?
- How long do you have, and what happens when time runs out?
- Can you withdraw real money while the bonus is active — and what happens to the bonus then?
A round-number example
Example only, not any operator’s offer: deposit €50, bonus €50, wagering 30 times the bonus. To unlock it you must place €1,500 in bets. If your chosen game counts only partly, the figure rises. The arithmetic shows how long your money will be tied up, so you can compare it with a plan of “deposit, play, withdraw”.
Welcome bonuses and verification
In new accounts operators often check whether one person is claiming the welcome bonus through several accounts. That is why sign-up details must match your document exactly, and why one household or device may be checked more closely. Finish ID verification straight away, so you are not waiting on documents at the end of wagering.
Take it or leave it
Take it if you plan to play longer, understand the wagering and do not need a payout in the next few days. Leave it if you want a quick withdrawal or play small amounts for which the wagering is out of proportion. Other bonus types are in Bonuses; wagering maths in Wagering; payouts in Withdrawals.
